About VCI Anti-Rust Bags

VCI anti-rust bags are polythene bags manufactured with a Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) masterbatch incorporated into the LDPE film. Inside a sealed VCI bag, the volatile corrosion inhibitor compounds vaporise and form an invisible protective molecular layer on all metal surfaces — preventing rust, oxidation and corrosion without any oils, desiccants or coatings. Bharat Plastic Manufacturing Co. manufactures VCI anti-rust bags in Pimpri MIDC, Pune, supplying automotive OEMs, engineering companies and metal parts exporters across Maharashtra and India.

Volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCI) work by releasing chemical compounds that adsorb onto metal surfaces and create a barrier against the moisture and oxygen that cause corrosion. VCI bags are the cleanest, most cost-effective rust prevention method for metal parts — no messy oils, no extra processing, no removal needed before assembly. Our VCI bags protect ferrous metals (steel, cast iron), copper alloys, aluminium and mixed-metal assemblies. Available in yellow (standard VCI colour) and custom colours, in any size from small precision parts bags to large automotive assembly covers.

Metal parts and components are highly susceptible to rust and corrosion during storage and transit, particularly in humid environments. VCI bags eliminate the need for messy oil coatings or desiccants — simply place the metal part in the bag, seal it, and the VCI chemistry protects all exposed surfaces from oxidation for months.

Our VCI bags are manufactured from LDPE with VCI masterbatch incorporated during extrusion, ensuring uniform distribution of the corrosion inhibitor throughout the film. We supply VCI bags in standard and custom sizes to fit components ranging from small precision parts to large automotive assemblies.

FAQ

Common Questions

How do VCI bags protect metal parts from rust?
VCI bags release corrosion-inhibiting vapour inside the sealed package. This vapour forms a thin protective molecular layer on all metal surfaces, preventing moisture and oxygen from causing oxidation. The protection remains active as long as the bag stays sealed.
What metals do VCI bags protect?
VCI bags protect ferrous metals (steel, cast iron), copper alloys, aluminium and other metals from corrosion and oxidation. They are used across automotive, engineering, defence and precision manufacturing industries. Simply place the clean metal part inside, seal the bag, and the VCI chemistry protects all exposed surfaces.
Do you supply VCI bags to automotive OEMs in Pune?
Yes. We are a trusted VCI bag supplier to automotive manufacturers, tier-1 and tier-2 OEM suppliers across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and the wider Maharashtra auto cluster. Contact us for bulk pricing and custom sizes.
What is a Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) and how does it work?
A Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) is a chemical compound that, at ambient temperature, releases molecules in vapour form inside a sealed package. These vapour-phase molecules travel through the air and adsorb onto all metal surfaces within the package, forming a monomolecular protective film that prevents moisture and oxygen from reaching the metal and causing rust or oxidation. VCI protection is active as long as the package is sealed and is self-replenishing — if the bag is briefly opened and resealed, protection resumes.
How long do VCI bags protect metal parts from rust and corrosion?
VCI bags typically provide corrosion protection for 12–24 months when properly sealed. The protection duration depends on the metal type, ambient conditions (humidity and temperature), package seal integrity and VCI concentration in the film. For export shipments and long-term warehouse storage, our VCI bags provide reliable rust-free protection without the need for oil treatments or desiccants. Contact us for specific protection duration data for your metal type.
